Sun Moon Lake “Energy Saving! Carbon Reduction! Green Living! - Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle Experience Event”

To align with the energy-saving and carbon-reduction goals promoted by the Paris Agreement, YC Synergy, Taiwan’s only provider specializing in the design and manufacturing of fuel cell power systems for medium- and large-scale vehicles, hosted an experiential test ride event on July 22nd at Sun Moon Lake for government and private organizations.

The “Star of Hope” was completed under the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Energy Bureau demonstration project and the Sun Moon Lake Green Vessel Promotion Policy. After a year of development, it was officially launched at the end of 2014. It is the first domestically-certified hydrogen-powered fuel cell passenger vessel to pass the safety and performance requirements of the Ministry of Transportation and, at the time, was Asia’s first fuel cell vessel compliant with maritime regulations.

The vessel is 17 meters long, with a maximum passenger capacity of 91 people and a top speed of 11 knots. Having been in operation for over a year and a half, the “Star of Hope” has demonstrated exceptional safety and stability.

Multi-Energy Integration: A Breakthrough in Green Marine Solutions

YC Synergy’s fuel cell power solution integrates lithium batteries, solar energy, and hydrogen fuel cells, achieving a multi-energy system that enhances electric vessel performance while reducing emissions. This solution also provides a comprehensive power system integration for new vessels or retrofitted ships at Sun Moon Lake and other yacht manufacturers.

By Q4 of this year, YC Synergy plans to launch a new generation of hydrogen fuel cell systems featuring dynamic output capabilities exceeding 60 kW. The design focuses on being lightweight, compact, and efficient, with future goals targeting high-power output systems exceeding 100 kW.

Advancing Hydrogen Fuel Cell Applications for Large Vehicles

In 2016, amid the rapid global development of new energy vehicles, the Taiwanese government began actively promoting the hydrogen fuel cell industry. YC Synergy stands as one of the few domestic companies specializing in fuel cell solutions for large-scale vehicles, with proven experience in integrating fuel cells into major transportation systems.

The new generation of hydrogen fuel cells developed by YC Synergy achieves a 50% increase in volumetric power density and demonstrates superior dynamic energy response capabilities. In collaboration with international automobile manufacturers, YC Synergy plans to introduce multiple fuel cell vehicle models. Additionally, the company is forming alliances with domestic and international gas and petroleum supply chain partners to develop hydrogen refueling stations, ranging from single-island setups to multi-island stations.

This infrastructure will ensure a reliable hydrogen supply, significantly accelerating the adoption of hydrogen fuel cells across a variety of vehicles, ultimately achieving meaningful energy savings and emissions reductions.
