YC Synergy Successfully Obtains Automotive Fuel Cell Certification, Enters New Energy Vehicle Market

In July 2018, YC Synergy, through its technology transfer efforts, successfully obtained the National Standard (GB) Certification for its 45-kW hydrogen fuel cell power system in Shanghai. This achievement qualifies YC Synergy to enter the automotive fuel cell market, marking a significant milestone for the company.

Manager Yang from the company’s R&D department highlighted, “Our newly certified high-power system has achieved significant performance enhancements compared to previous products. The weight has been reduced by more than 30%, and the overall size has been reduced by about 50%, representing a new generation of design.” Yang emphasized five key features of the system:

1. High Integration: The system integrates six subsystems—fuel cell stack, hydrogen supply, air supply, temperature control, electronic communication, and power system—into a single chassis, while incorporating safety mechanisms, structural engineering, and noise protection.

2. Modular Design: The system supports modular configurations, enabling parallel or serial outputs to meet diverse requirements. In case of a fault, only the faulty module needs repair, while the overall system continues to operate.

3. Plug-and-Play: With standardized interfaces for all modules, the system can start operating immediately after connecting the appropriate inputs and outputs, providing complete connectivity for vehicle manufacturers and end-users.

4. Versatile Power Applications: In addition to powering vehicles, the system is suitable for mobile power generation, stationary power generation, backup power, and combined heat and power (CHP) applications.

General Manager Huang Chih-Wen stated that YC Synergy will continue to focus on the R&D and production of fuel cell drive systems (BOP). Through extensive collaborations, the company plans to launch small-scale production of fuel cell products for the automotive market this year. The company has already begun factory renovations, with the trial production line expected to be fully deployed within the next two to three months.

“We believe that as fuel cell technology matures and with the technical expertise and resources our team has accumulated over the years, YC Synergy will gradually make a mark in the new energy vehicle sector. We also hope to drive more upstream and downstream partners to join the fuel cell industry,” Huang emphasized.
