YC Synergy, a domestic manufacturer specializing in high-power hydrogen fuel cell design and production, will participate in the 2016 Taiwan International Boat Show, held at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center from March 10th to 13th. The company is showcasing its second-generation hydrogen fuel cell system, which offers greater stability and a smaller power generation unit compared to its predecessors installed on yachts at Sun Moon Lake and Tamsui River. This system is designed to meet the high power output needs of large vehicles such as yachts, buses, and trucks, distinguishing it from other domestic players focusing on small-power backup fuel cells for telecom facilities.

At this year’s boat show, YC Synergy is presenting its “YCS-MB109” series product. The system, precisely calculated and engineered, features enhanced functionality and performance, enabling vehicle application developers to quickly integrate fuel cell technology. With a modular design, a single module can output over 15 kW of net power, and power levels can be scaled to hundreds of kilowatts through simple series or parallel configurations, facilitating shipyards in designing new yacht models.

The compact modular system allows rapid installation by integrating hydrogen pipelines, motors, and motor controllers while balancing hydrogen storage tanks. The completion time for a hydrogen-powered yacht is estimated to be nearly the same as that of a traditional diesel-powered yacht.

General Manager Huang Chih-Wen stated, “The fuel cell system module solves critical challenges faced by electric boats, including short range, long charging times, and limited battery lifespan. It also enhances stability and comfort during operation, increasing boat speeds to 8-10 knots or more.”

The “YCS-MB109” series is equipped with:

The module also includes an automotive CAN bus communication interface compliant with U.S. SAE standards, making it one of the most integrated hydrogen fuel cell modules in the industry. It is positioned as the primary power choice for 21st-century yacht installations.
